Men's Basketball Runs Winning Streak to Six Games With 31-Point Win at Keuka

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team ran its winning streak to six games on Thursday as the Cardinals cruised to a 31-point win at Keuka, 91-60, in an Empire 8 tilt inside the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.  With the win, Fisher, which sits atop the Empire 8 standings, moved to 8-1 on the year and 8-0 against conference competition while the Wolves fell to 1-7 overall and in Empire 8 play.

Daniel Cook produced a game-high 24 points and notched 13 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the year while Brendan Trapper finished with 17 points and seven boards.  Sean Williams contributed eight points, five assists and three steals in the win while Mark Valeriani was 4-for-8 from the floor for eight points.

After building a 44-27 lead following the first half of play, the Cardinals looked to push the ball up the court as back-to-back fast-break dunks from Trapper followed by an old-fashioned 3-point play from Cook sparked a 7-2 run that staked the visitors to a 55-32 advantage.

A jumper by Keuka snapped the Wolves' skid on the offensive end of the floor, but it did little to slow Fisher's momentum as the Cardinals rattled off 11 of the game's next 12 pints including a 9-0 burst to open up a 66-35 cushion.

As the game wore on, Fisher's lead would grow to as many as 36 points late in the half en route to the 91-60 decision.

As a team, Fisher was 36-for-72 (.500) from the floor and 15-of-17 from the free throw line.  The Cardinals held a decisive advantage on the glass and out-rebounded Keuka, 49-22.

Fisher and Keuka will meet again at 7 p.m. on Friday inside Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium on Bobby Wanzer Court as the Cardinals go for their seventh straight win.
