No. 12 Women's Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day With Win Over Sage For Its 15th Straight Victory

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The No. 12 St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team celebrated its Senior Day on Saturday afternoon as the Cardinals capped off the regular season with a 24-1 victory over The Sage Colleges for their 15th consecutive win. With the win, Fisher finishes the regular season with a 16-1 overall record and a perfect 8-0 mark in the Empire 8, while the Gators fall to 2-13 overall and 1-7 in conference play.

Prior to the opening draw control, the women's lacrosse team honored its six seniors for the dedication and contributions throughout their fantastic careers. This year's list of seniors included Molly Tice, Emily Smith, Olivia Marziale, Sarah Miles, Mary Grace Doyle, and Molly Rourke.

Fisher got the game's goal scoring started early and often once again in the conference matchup as the Cardinals were able to put nine goals up on the scoreboard within the opening nine minutes of action. Early goal scorers included Doyle, Tice, Sydney DeGirolamo, Mallory Eymer, Emily Thompson, and Alyssa Sabotka.

At the 25:00 mark of the opening half, Eymer tallied her second goal of the game and 46th of the season, which marked the junior's 100th career goal in a Cardinals' uniform.

As the first half of action wore on, the Fisher offense continued to cruise along as the Cardinals found the back of the net four more times over the next 10 minutes of play. DeGirolamo notched her hat-trick goal at the 13:39 mark, while Rourke, Brittany Halpin, and Maria Hristodoulou joined in on the Cardinals' goal scoring run.

From there, Fisher would had add another four goals to its lead before the halftime break as late goal scores included Doyle, Marziale, and Kathleen Salanger.

As a team in the first half, Fisher tallied 23 shots on goal, while also grabbing 16 ground balls and 16 draw controls.

The senior Smith opened up the second half goal scoring for the Cardinals at the 29:09 mark, which was quickly followed by tallies from Alexandra Kopcza and Hayley Maguire.

From there, Maguire would pick up her fifth goal of the season, while Halpin and Brenna Wilson finished off the scoring for Fisher as the second half winded down.

However, Sage tallied its first goal of the game with only one second remaining on the game clock as the Gators were able to capitalize on a long-range shot.

Throughout the conference matchup, Fisher caused 13 of the 25 Sage turnovers, with DeGirolamo, Tice, and Jenna Lippert leading the way with two apiece. DeGirolamo also led the Cardinals with 10 draw controls, while Logan Chase led the way with three ground balls.

Eymer, DeGirolamo, and Doyle all finished with four points apiece in the victory as Morgan Hayes saw all 60 minutes of action in net to earn her fifth win of the season.

The Cardinals have earned the right to host the Empire 8 Conference Championship beginning next Saturday and will now wait to see which three teams will be joining them at Growney Stadium next weekend.
