No. 12 Women's Lacrosse Makes It 14 Wins In A Row With 14-5 Victory Over Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The No. 12 St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team increased its winning streak to 14 games on Wednesday afternoon as the Cardinals defeated The College at Brockport on the road by a score of 14-6. With the win, Fisher improves to 15-1 overall on the year, while the Golden Eagles fall to 12-3 overall.

Fisher surrendered only five goals in the non-conference matchup, which marks the eighth time in the last nine games that the Cardinals have allowed five or less goals in a game.

Sydney DeGirolamo opened up the game's scoring for Fisher as the freshman took a feed from Mallory Eymer to give the Cardinals the early lead at the 23:57 mark.

From there, Brockport answer right back as the Golden Eagles tallied back-to-back goals within a two minute span to take a one goal advantage early on in the opening half.

Over the course of the next seven minutes of game time, Fisher was able to find the back of the net three times to regain a two-goal lead as goals were scored by DeGirolamo, Emily Thompson, and Mary Grace Doyle

As the first half continued, both teams would trade goals back-and-forth until the scoreboard read 6-5 in favor of Fisher at the end of the first 30 minutes. The remaining first half goal scorers included Allison Rupp and Logan Chase.

Brockport was the first team on the scoreboard in the second half as the Golden Eagles tied the game at six apiece at the 28:33 mark.

From there, Fisher dominated the remainder of the second half and scored eight consecutive goals to close out the game. The Cardinals shut-out the Golden Eagles for the final 28 minutes of game time as goalkeeper Morgan Hayes made five huge saves in the second half.

Fisher goal scorers in the second half of action included DeGirolamo, Chase, Rupp, Thompson, Chase, and Brittany Halpin.

As a team, Fisher posted 22 shots on goal throughout the game, while also finishing the contest going 20-21 on clear attempts. Defensively, the Cardinals caused 16 Brockport turnovers, with Erin Mills leading the way with four of them.

Claudia Mocciaro was credited with her 11th win of the season after making three saves in the first half, while Hayes closed out the game in the second half.

The Cardinals will look to make it 15 wins in a row when they are back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they welcome Sage to Growney Stadium for Senior Day.
