ELMIRA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team moved to 5-0 in the Empire 8 with a 79-52 win over Elmira on Tuesday in Speidel Gymnasium.  With the win, Fisher, which has now won its last three games, moved to 10-4 on the season while the Soaring Eagles fell to 3-9 overall and 1-3 in the conference standings.

Ryan Henderson posted a career-high 28 points on 10-of-16 shooting to go along with seven rebounds.  The senior forward was 7-for-7 from the charity stripe on the night and added an assist on the offensive end.  Matt Asenjo finished with 11 points and four boards while freshman Brendan Trapper added eight points, seven rebounds and a pair of helpers.  Sammy Robinson and Mark Scanlon each contributed seven points in the win while James Leone chipped in with four points, five dimes, three blocked shots and a game-high eight rebounds.

After taking a one-point lead, 33-32, into the start of the second half, the Cardinals took off and used a 12-3 run over the opening three minutes of play to build a double-digit lead, 45-35.  The Soaring Eagles halted the momentum temporarily with a jumper, but Fisher's hot shooting continued as the visitors reeled off another big run with 14 of the game's next 16 points to open up a 20-point cushion, 59-39.

The lead would grow to 23 points before Elmira chipped the deficit down to 19 points, but that was as close as it would come as the Cardinals closed out the contest on a 9-1 run to remain atop the Empire 8 standings.

Overall, Fisher was 29-of-58 (.500) from the field and 14-of-20 from the charity stripe.  The Cardinals pulled down 48 rebounds in the win and dominated in the paint with 38 points.

Fisher will look to keep it rolling at 7:30 p.m. on Friday when it travels to Utica College for an Empire 8 showdown with the Pioneers.
