PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team notched its second Empire 8 victory of the season with the win over The Sage Colleges, 1-0. Fisher advanced to 2-7-1 overall and moved to 2-1 in the Empire 8 standings. Sage dropped to 3-5-1 on the year and fell to 1-1-1 in the conference.
The Cardinals and Gators traded shots for a majority of the first half with Fisher registering multiple scoring opportunities.
The first and only goal of the game came with just 12 seconds remaining in the first half of play. Glenn Roschetzky fired a pass through the middle of the box that found the foot of Brian Norman who blasted the ball into the back of the net. At the end of the first 45 minutes of action, Fisher would head into the locker room up 1-0.
The Cardinals registered 10 total shots in the first half with Brennan Brown, Justin Bonetto and Tanner Smith each ripping two shots apiece.
The one goal would be enough as the Cardinals defense staved off a Gators offense that came out aggressive in the second half.
The Cardinals capped off the afternoon with 12 total shots with nine different players taking a shot for Fisher.
Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Miles tallied his second win of the season in net after he stopped three Gator shot attempts.
Fisher returns to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday as the Cardinals are set to travel to Alfred State for a non-conference bout with the Pioneers.
