Men's Soccer Downed By Geneseo in Non-Conference Bout

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team was defeated in its non-conference bout with SUNY Geneseo, 4-0. Following the loss the Cardinals dropped to 2-9-2 overall, while the Knights advanced to 5-5-3 on the year.

The Geneseo Knights got on the board early with its first goal coming just shy of the third minute.

Fisher's best scoring opportunity of the contest came in the closing minutes of the first half when Daniel Murray rocketed a shot off the top of the goal post. Zachary Munski would also fire a shot off for the Cardinals, however the Knights tacked on two more goals before the end of the half.

Fisher came out aggressive in the second half with Joe Balls ripping two shots in the first ten minutes.

The Knights scored their fourth and final goal of the game in the 61st minute of play as Geneseo would eventually go on to take the 4-0 victory.

Fisher ended the nightcap with seven total shots as Balls ripped a team-high three shots. Munski, Murray, Kevin Halsteter and Colin Whitman all added one shot apiece.

Goalkeeper Joe Catalfamo tallied a single save in net, but suffered the loss for the Cardinals. Justin Miles would come in to relieve Catalfamo to finish out the final 43 minutes and registered a save of his own.

The Cardinals step back into Empire 8 Conference action at 7 p.m. on Friday as Fisher is slated to host the Highlanders of Houghton College.
