PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team fell in Empire 8 Conference play to East Avenue rival Nazareth College, 1-0. With the loss the Cardinals fell to 2-8-2 overall and dropped to 2-2 in conference play. The Golden Flyers advanced to 7-3-1 and moved to 2-1-1 in Empire 8 play.
Fisher had its best chance to score in just the second minute of play as freshman Justin Bonetto ripped a shot that ricocheted off the post.
Nazareth netted the only score of the game in the 13th minute as a Golden Flyer found the back of the net just past senior Joe Catalfamo.
At the end of the first 45 minutes of play Fisher ripped two total shots with Bonetto and Joe Balls taking one shot apiece.
The Cardinals gave the Golden Flyers a run for their money in the second half as Fisher fired off seven shots and registered three corner kick attempts. However, Nazareth held on to eventually take the victory.
Fisher finished the day with nine total shots, five of which were on net. Bonetto had a team-high four shots on the day, while Balls finished with two and Dallas Kaiser, Glenn Roschetzky and Brian Norman each added one apiece.
Catalfamo suffered the loss in net, but stopped three Nazareth shots in the game.
The Cardinals return to non-conference action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as Fisher is slated to take on the Knights of SUNY Geneseo on the turf of Growney Stadium.
