Men's Soccer Notches Crucial Empire 8 Victory Behind a Season-High Four Goals

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team notched a crucial Empire 8 conference victory on senior night against the Elmira College Soaring Eagles, 4-0. The Cardinals jumped to 4-9-2 and improved to 4-2 in the conference. The Soaring Eagles dropped to 3-12 on the year and fell to 1-5 in Empire 8 action.

The Cardinals hopped on the board to open up the scoring in the 31st minute of play as Glenn Roschetzky crossed a ball into the box and found the feet of Brennan Brown who buried the ball into the back of net. The goal marked Brown's second of the season.

The scoring did not stop there for Fisher as senior Tyler Randall ripped a top, left shelf goal from 25 yards out to put the Cardinals up 2-0 at the halfway point.

Fisher dominated the first half of play as the Cardinals held the 11-3 shot edge as the teams broke for the locker room.

The Cardinals came out in the second half with their foot on the gas as Fisher buried its third goal in the 57th minute. Justin Bonetto fired a shot off the Alfred goalie that found its way to Joe Balls who put the one timer into the back of the net to put the Cardinals up three goals.

Two seniors capped off the scoring for the Cardinals on the senior night celebration as Steve Castellini put a beautiful cross into the box for Brian Norman to put the finishing touches on the victory with the header goal.

The Cardinals wrapped up the night with a season-high 20 shots, nine of which were on net. Bonetto and Dallas Kaiser each recorded four shots in the affair, while Randall added three and Brown and Norman each added two.

Justin Miles picked up the win in goal as the sophomore tallied two saves in the match.

The Cardinals wrap up the 2018 regular season at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 27th as Fisher heads to Alfred University to take on the Saxons.
