PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's volleyball team came out strong for their first home match of the season, sweeping D'Youville College in straight sets 25-20, 25-17, 25-23. With the win Fisher improves to 4-1 on the year while the Spartans fall to 2-2.

Senior
Anna Marcy finished with a team-high 15 kills to lead the Cardinals offensively, while also hitting a solid .303 pct. for the match. Sophomores
Izzy Smith and
Emily Risch both pitched in season highs in kills six and five, respectively to help power a well-balanced attack.

At one point, Fisher was leading 18-10 in the first set dominating at the service line, finishing with 6 aces in the first set.

The second and third sets were much closer, the Cardinals rallied back in the third set from four points down after not trailing for much of the first two sets. D'Youville cut the Fisher lead to 24-23 after tailing by four points late in the match, until a monster kill from Marcy ended the third set 25-23.
Phoebe Kane and
Rebecca Hay continued their consistent play from the setter position, finishing with 13 and 12 assists, respectively. Â Â Â

Defensively for the Cardinals,
Katie Mazierski was all over the court picking up 12 digs throughout the match. Hay and
Elise Kreuz each notched eight digs a piece.

The Cardinals will be back in action on Friday for two matches, as they travel to Erie, PA for the Northwest Pennsylvania Challenge. Fisher will take on Penn State Behrend at 5 p.m. and then the College of Wooster a 7:15 p.m.Â
