ITHACA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team fell on the road to former Empire 8 conference rival Ithaca College, 4-0. The Cardinals now stand at 3-6 overall, while Ithaca advances to 3-5 in its 2017 campaign.
The first Ithaca goal came in the ninth minute when the ball deflected off a Fisher player and an Ithaca player was able to gather the ball and tap it in past Melissa McGowan. After staving off several Bomber shot attempts, Ithaca struck again 15 minutes later, finding the net on a rebounded shot attempt.
Going into the half, Ithaca would outshoot Fisher, 7-1. Shiane Irwin would tally the only Fisher shot attempt of the half. McGowan would stop two Bomber shots to keep the score at, 2-0.
The Bombers would go on to score another two goals in the first ten minutes of the second half to defeat the Cardinals, 4-0.
Fisher would finish the game with four total shots. Irwin, Abigail Barr, Elise Olivo and Logan Chase all fired a shot for the Cardinals on the day.
McGowan took the loss in net, recording four total saves, over 90 minutes of play.
The Cardinals return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the team travels to The Sage Colleges to face the Gators for the first time ever in Empire 8 conference play.
