ON THE ROAD AGAIN:  For the third time in the last four weeks, the Cardinals will hit the road as the team travels to Oneonta, N.Y. for a conference showdown with the Hartwick College Hawks.  Fisher, which will have compiled over 500 miles on the road so far this season, has a travel-heavy schedule as it plays six games in unfriendly territory and just four at home.  After this week's matchup, however, the Cardinals will enjoy their bye week before playing three of their next four games in front of their home fans including back-to-back games on October 7th and October 14th.

SERIES HISTORY: Fisher and Hartwick first met on the gridiron in 1992 and have played 22 times since with the Cardinals coming away with a 15-7 record in that span.  Over the last eight seasons, however, Fisher has won all eight meetings and, if you take it a step further, the Cardinals have posted a victory in 14 of their last 16 games with Hartwick.

LET ME MAKE MY POINT: With Fisher struggling to put points on the board over its last two games, Hartwick might be the right opponent at the right time based on how Fisher has fared in the past.  In 22 games against the Hawks, Fisher has scored a lot of points...848 points to be exact...for an average of 38.5 points per meeting.  Last season, the Cardinals racked up 68 points on 654 yards of total offense (525 through the air) and in 2005, the team scored 70 points.  Overall, Fisher has eclipsed the 50-point plateau six times against the Hawks.

LAST TIME OUT: Last weekend, the Cardinals opened up play at Growney Stadium for the first time this season as they hosted No. 22 The College at Brockport in Courage Bowl XIII.  Sophomore quarterback JOSHUA MICHELS put up 224 passing yards to seven different receivers, but it was not enough as Fisher suffered its first loss in the Courage Bowl since its inception in 2005.  JAMES CHAMBERS ran for 30 yards, but did have a big day as a receiver with a team-high four catches for 84 yards, which included a 74-yard touchdown reception.  MIKE COLLICHIO had three grabs for 50 yards while DYLAN HARRINGTON hauled in four catches for 41 yards.  WILLIAM COON and WILL BLAKE teamed up for five catches and 34 yards.

MAJEWSKI MAKING MOVES: Senior linebacker EVAN MAJEWSKI has been a bright spot on defense for the Cardinals through three games this season.  Majewski has come away with 31 tackles to lead the team and has racked up double-digit tackle total in each of his last two outings including a game-high 14 stops last week.  To date, Majewski has almost half as many tackles through three games as he had in 11 appearances last season (71).

IT HAS BEEN A WHILE: Fisher hasn't started a season off with three losses in quite some time.  In fact, you'd have to go all the way back to 2001, a stretch of 16 seasons.

MILESTONE WATCH: Senior wideout MIKE COLLICHIO is approaching some impressive milestones as the senior needs just five receiving yards to become just the fifth player if Fisher's history to surpass the 2,000 yard plateau for his career.  His 138 career receptions is fifth all-time and he needs just 27 more catches to pass Nathan Nigolian for fourth place in the record book.  Additionally, Collichio's 16 touchdowns is tied for the seventh-most in program history.  His next touchdown will tie him with Jimmy Smith (2005-08) for sixth place.  WILLIAM COON is also approaching a benchmark of his own as he needs just six yards to break 1,000 receiving yards for his career.

IT'S IN HIS "GENE'S": Can't make it to Wright Stadium for Saturday's showdown? ESPN Rochester has you covered.  Gene Battaglia has the play-by-play and the game will be broadcasted live on ESPN Radio local channel 95.7 on your FM dial or 950 AM.  You can also listen live on ESPNrochester.com.

TIME IS A PRECIOUS COMMODITY: We all wish we had more of it, that's for sure.  Through three games this season, Fisher has possessed the football for an average of 26:35 while opponents have had the ball nearly seven minutes more in each contest.  The Cardinals will need that to change this week to keep Hartwick's high-powered offense on the sidelines.  The Hawks, on the other hand, don't spend much time on offense either with an average time of possession at 28:20.  Their hurry-up offense has scored a touchdown every 11 plays on average this season.

OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST: Across the league, No. 19 Brockport hosts Utica College as the Pioneers are looking for their first win in conference play.  Alfred, Buffalo State and Morrisville each play out of conference while SUNY Cortland is idle this week.

SCOUTING HARTWICK: The Hawks are a much better team than what their record would indicate as Hartwick (1-2) has lost both of its games by just one point.  The Hawks fell in week one to Western Connecticut State, 48-47, and dropped a close game against SUNY Cortland last weekend, 31-30.  As a team, they rank second in the Empire 8 in points per game this season (40.7) and have allowed just 26.3 points per contest to opponents.   Hartwick currently leads the Empire 8 conference and is among the national leaders in passing as the Hawks are averaging 372.3 yards through the air.  Senior quarterback BILLY PINE leads the charge with a conference-leading 1,055 total yards and 14 touchdowns.  The Hoosick Falls native posted a record-setting performance in week one's defeat after throwing for seven touchdowns.  Pine's favorite target this season has been KOREE REED who has amassed 493 yards and five touchdowns on 16 receptions.  Additionally, BRAD GARCIA has caught 18 passes for 383 yards and eight scores while CHASE WEICHMAN has nine catches for 108 yards to his credit.

Hartwick also features a potent running game led by TITO PICHARDO who has 307 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.  Pichardo is averaging over six yards per carry and is one of five backs in the conference to average over 100 rushing yards per game.

On the defensive side of the ball, Hartwick is allowing over 350 yards of offense per game and has surrendered 11 touchdowns to its opposition.  As a team, the Hawks have come away with two interceptions including a pick six and can create havoc in the backfield as evidenced by their conference-leading 10 sacks.  JOSH WILCOX leads the team with 20 tackles including 3.5 for a loss while NICK RICHARD has tallied 18 stops.  DAVID VAN ALSTINE, MARK HACKETT, ANTHONY ROTUNNO and JOE TECKLENBURG have each come up with 14 tackles overall.

HALL OF FAME NEWS: The St. John Fisher College Athletics Hall of Fame will see two former football players enshrined during an induction ceremony on November 3 at the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa as Noah Fehrenbach '06 and Gene Lang '07 will each be honored.  A three-time All-Conference honoree and an All-American selection in 2005, Fehrenbach rewrote the record books at Fisher and is still the program's all-time leader in receiving yards with 3,083 (nearly 1,500 yards more than second place), receptions (205) and touchdowns (36).  A two-time All-American, Lang was named to the Third-Team All-Decade Team by D3football.com at the conclusion of his career at linebacker.  To date, he still ranks third all-time in total tackles with 325.  Lang is a two-time First-Team All-Conference selection by the Empire 8 and was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2006 – the conference's first-ever player to earn that award.  Furthermore, he was named All East Region by D3football.com twice and went on to be named the 2006 Don Hansen Gazette Linebacker of the Year.

ON THE HORIZON:  After Saturday's clash, Fisher will head into its bye week on September 30th.  From there, the team will host two straight games beginning with nationally-ranked Alfred University on October 7th.  The game will also mark Alumni Weekend as all graduates are encouraged to come back and take part in the various activities planned around campus.  Game time on Saturday, October 7 is scheduled for 4 p.m.
