PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher football head coach Ed Raby Jr. announced three additions to his coaching staff and an updated role for a returning assistant coach on Monday as the Cardinals continue to prepare for the 2026 season.

The Cardinals have added Alex Day (assistant offensive line coach), Alessandro DeRosa (defensive backs) and Amir Massey (cornerbacks), while Jayden Prina, in his third year with the program, will now coach tight ends in addition to serving as the team's video coordinator. Additionally, Raby, who coordinates the Cardinals' defense, will coach the defensive line.

"We are very excited about our staff this year. I think the continuity on our staff points to the strong relationships and culture that we have here at St. John Fisher," Raby said. "We added two very talented young defensive back coaches who played the position at a high level and bring tons of energy. The program is also excited to now have Fisher football alum Alex Day as an assistant offensive line coach. Our entire group has a great work ethic, teaching ability and football knowledge."

A former offensive lineman for the Cardinals, Day graduated from St. John Fisher this past spring. He played in four games in 2024 and six (one start) as a senior in 2025.

DeRosa, from nearby Webster, graduated from SUNY Cortland in May with a Bachelor of Science in strength and conditioning. The former defensive back, who played in 26 collegiate games (10 starts), helped the Red Dragons win four Empire 8 Conference championships and the 2023 Division III national championship. He made 43 tackles, including three for a loss, defended four passes and recorded an interception as a senior on his way to first-team All-Empire 8 honors.

Massey played collegiately at Alfred and graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in coaching. A team captain for the Saxons as a senior, Massey, also a former defensive back, appeared in 26 games over four seasons. He defended two passes and snagged an interception in 2023.

A Rochester native, Massey served as the defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator for the University Prep Charter School's varsity football team during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He was the defensive coordinator for the Rochester City Grim U15 7-on-7 football team in spring 2024.

Prina spent last season as the Cardinals' defensive line coach after coaching the tight ends in 2024. He played collegiately at SUNY Brockport, where he was a three-year starting fullback.

The Cardinals had their first winning season since 2016 in 2025, finishing 7-4 overall and 5-2 in Empire 8 play. They open the 2026 season against FDU-Florham at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Growney Stadium.
