Women's Volleyball Crowned Co-Champions At Oswego State Invitational

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's volleyball team continued its winning ways on Saturday at the Oswego State Invitational. Fisher was crowned Co-Champions of the tournament along with Elmira College, both teams finishing 3-0. The Cardinals won two matches, the first against SUNY Canton in straight sets 25-13, 25-15, 25-17 and the second against Hilbert College also in straight sets 25-17, 25-16, 25-12. With the wins Fisher improves to 10-3 on the year, while Canton falls to 3-7 and Hilbert falls to 0-10.
 
Senior Anna Marcy and sophomore Izzy Smith were selected to the All-Tournament Team for her stellar play throughout the weekend.
 
Marcy moved into 9th place all time in career kills for the Cardinals with 1077. Also, senior Katie Mazierski moved into 6th place all time in career digs with 1368.
 
In the win over Canton, Marcy led the way offensively finishing with 15 kills and adding four blocks. Mazierski pitched in nine kills and 10 digs. Freshman setter Rebecca Hay had an impressive 30 assists and Elise Kreuz notched 14 digs.
 
As a team, the Cardinals finished with their highest hitting percentage of the season with an impressive .406%.
 
Against Hilbert, freshman Molly Taylor finished with a career high 25 assists and five service aces. Phoebe Kane added her season high for serving aces with six.
 
Smith and Erica Pawlewicz each had solid matches offensively notching 11 and nine kills respectively and only one error apiece. Defensively, Tori Laratonda pitched in 11 digs from the liber position.

Fisher is back in action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday as they welcome RIT to Manning and Napier Gymnasium for a non-conference matchup.
