Women's Lax Wins Fourth-Straight with Convincing Victory Over Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-2 victory over Alfred University on Saturday afternoon at Yunevich Stadium. With the win, Fisher improves to 10-4 on the season and 4-3 in Empire 8 play. Alfred drops to 3-10 overall and remain winless in the conference (0-6).

Fisher took no time generating offense as the squad scored the game's first six goals, all in the first 5:19. The first half would end with the Cardinals comfortably leading the Saxons 11-2.

The second half was similar as Fisher piled in nine more goals, all while holding Alfred scoreless.

Morgan Young led all players on the field as she tucked away a career-high four goals. She was aided by Kelsie Schindler, Maria Hristodoulou and Cori Holbrook, all of which registered a hat trick. Mackenzie LeVan also had multiple goals as she had two.

Scoring one on the day was Molly Tice, Jamie Wallace, Jenna Lippert, Emily Smith and Molly Rourke.

The Cardinals had a terrific day on the draw, controlling 22 of the 24 chances. Hayley Maguire picked a season-high six draw controls to lead everyone. Following close behind was senior Abbie Reed with four.

Reed also turned in a solid performance on defense, causing four turnovers.

Women's lacrosse will be back in action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as the team squares off against Elmira College in its final regular-season conference contest.
