HOBOKEN, N.J. - The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team fell, 12-6, to the Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Fisher moves to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Stevens improves to 10-3 on the season (5-0 E8).
The Ducks controlled much of the first half of the game, notching the first five goals of the contest. Fisher made its first mark on the scoresheet as Andrew Rosso tucked away his 26th of the season with just 1:19 left in the half. Stevens answered with one right before the whistle for half though, taking a 6-1 lead into the locker room.
Fisher's best period came in the third as the Cardinals outscored the ducks 4-3. Nick Papayanakos scored two goals in the stanza, sandwiching scores from Rosso and Zach Wagner. Stevens wouldn't back down though as they piled in another three in the final period.
Papayanakos recorded a hat trick on the day to lead all Cardinals. Rosso would finish with two and Wagner with one. Drew Brown and Glenn Roscheetzky also made it into the score book with an assist a piece.
Tanner Swan recorded all 60 minutes in goal for Fisher, turning aside 12 Duck shots in the process.
Men's lacrosse will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as the Cardinals square off against Elmira College under the lights of Growney Stadium.
