Women's Lax Falls in Nationally-Ranked Showdown

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team fell, 12-9, to No. 10 Ithaca College Saturday afternoon at Growney Stadium. With the loss, Fisher moves to 4-3 on the year and 0-2 in the conference. The Bombers improve to 8-1 overall (4-0 conference).

It was a back-and-forth first half, with Fisher opening up the scoring courtesy of a Jamie Wallace goal just 1:38 into the contest. Nearly 10 minutes later, Ithaca netted two quick ones to gain the lead, but Wallace converted on a free position to tie it up at 2-2.
Ithaca would regain the lead at the 11:47 and each team would collect a pair of goals in the final ten minutes.

After half, Ithaca opened up, scoring the stanza's first five goals. Fisher would attempt a comeback as they notched four of the next six but the team was unable to overcome the deficit.

Offensively, Jordan Johnson finished with four points on three goals and one assist. Wallace and Schindler concluded the game with two goals a piece.

On the defensive side of things, the team caused a season-high 16 turnovers with six different players recording two.

In goal, Hayley Peets racked up three saves through the entirety of the game.

Women's lacrosse returns to action at 5 p.m. on Thursday for a non-conference bout with the Bengals of Buffalo State.
