PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College field hockey team extended its win streak to 10 games as it defeated No. 17 University of Rochester under the lights at Growney Stadium in an overtime thriller by a score of 3-2. With the win the Cardinals improve to 10-1 on the year, while the Yellowjackets fall to 7-3.
Bre Socker tallied her second career hat trick including the game-winner in the first overtime period as she ripped a shot into the right side of the net just 28 seconds into overtime. The freshman now has 12 goals on the year.
Socker would open up the scoring at the 14:50 mark of the first half as she took a feed off a penalty corner from
Lauren Fazio and blasted a shot from the left wing past the Rochester goalkeeper. The Yellowjackets would tie the game up in the 22nd minute off a tip-in in front of the cage.
The Cardinals quickly regained the lead just 19 seconds into the second half as Socker took a beautiful pass from
Emily Markarian and slid it past the goalkeeper. Rochester again answered at the 45:33 mark to tie the game back up at two.

Ashley Maynard picked up her 10th win of the season. Maynard made eight saves on the 10 shots on goal she faced.
The Cardinals are back in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the travel to take on Elmira College an Empire 8 Conference battle.
