PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College field hockey team fell to Washington and Jefferson College in Empire 8 Conference action on Saturday by a score of 2-1. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 12-3 on the season and 5-1 in the Empire 8, while the Presidents improve to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
Senior
Emily Markarian put the Cardinals on the board first with a great individual effort in front of the net for her 18
th goal of the season, unassisted. The Cardinals out-shot the Presidents in the first 35 minutes 5-2 and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Washington and Jefferson answered quickly in the second half at the 40:30 minute mark to tie the game up at 1. The Presidents eventually took the lead and scored the game-winning goal at 59:03 mark off of a penalty corner from the left side of goalkeeper
Ashley Maynard. Maynard finished with two saves in the game.

Reghan Amoroso each tallied one shot on net throughout the game.
The Cardinals are back in action at 5 p.m. on Tuesday as they welcome Oswego State to Growney Stadium for a non-conference matchup.
