The St. John Fisher College women's soccer program and College at Brockport played to a scoreless tie on Thursday night at Fisher's Growney Stadium. It was the first of two games in the "Golden Challenge For A Pink Cure" Tournament, featuring Fisher, Brockport, Geneseo and Nazareth.
WIth the tie, Fisher moves to 1-1-1 on the year.
Fisher's
Gabriella Cotugno earned her third career shutout, stopping 10 shots over 110 minutes. The senior came up big midway the second half, making a diving save after a shot clanked off the cross bar.
The Cardinals had several quality opportunities, including two in the first half with
Taryn Guinta and
Emily Murray both getting good looks. Fisher also nearly scored in the final moments of regulation as well.
Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday at SUNY Geneseo. Proceeds from Saturday's game will go the Wilmot Cancer Institute.
