The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team fell 2-1 to No. 10 University of Rochester Tuesday evening at Growney Stadium. With the loss, Fisher moves to 1-6-1 on the year while the nationally-ranked Yellowjackets remain undefeated (6-0-0).
Fisher struck first thanks to a bit of nifty footwork by
Matthew Kaiser. The freshman received a long ball near the top of the box on the goalkeeper's left side. Kaiser was then able to beat his man and ripped a low shot from the top-left corner of the 18. The ball beat an outstretched keeper to the far post, giving the Cardinals the 1-0.
Earlier in the half, Kaiser had another shot to increase the Cardinals lead but his volley hit the cross bar and deflected out.
Joe Catalfamo made six saves on the night, increasing his total on the year to 38.
Fisher will return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday as the team hosts the Stevens Institute of Technology at Polisseni Track and Field Complex.
