Volleyball Ends Tourney with Victory

The St. John Fisher College volleyball team split its two matches on the final day of the St. John Fisher College Invitational. Fisher dropped its first contest 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) to Penn State-Behrend before defeating D'Youville College 3-1 () in the Invite's final game. At the conclusion of the tournament, Katie Mazierski was naemd to the All-Tournament Team.
 
GAME 1:
Anna Marcy led the Cardinals' offense, collecting 13 kills. Following her was Mazierski and Amanda Miller who recorded seven and five, respectively.
 
Defensively, Elise Kreuz managed the backline, digging a team-high 15 balls from the libero position. Mazierski also hit double-digit digs with 12.
 
At the net, freshman Emily Risch recorded her two blocks in the final set.
 
Phoebe Kane got the start at the setter's spot, dealing out 35 helpers.
 
GAME 2:
The team really found its offense this match, accruing its second-most kills as a team this season (51). Leading the way was junior duo Mazierski and Marcy, who both put up 14 kills. Risch also pitched in 12 to go along with her five blocks on the evening.
 
Kreuz and Mazierski took control of the defensive side of things, digging 15 and 11 balls, respectively. Mazierski also hit her 1,000-career dig during this match
 
Kane resumed her setting duties, racking up a team-high 30 assists.
 
On the service line, Marcy put up two separate five-point strings, helping the Cardinals during both the third and fourth sets. Amanda Miller also got in on the service action, tying a career-high four aces
 
Fisher volleyball returns to action at 11 a.m. on Saturday as it squares off against Emira College in the first game of the Elmira Empire 8 tri-match.
