The St. John Fisher College volleyball team secured two 3-0 victories over Elmira College and Utica College in the Empire 8 Crossover at Elmira on Saturday.

The Cardinals took the first set 25-20, and won the second by just two points at 25-23 before winning the third set with a convincing score of 25-14.

Fisher enjoyed one of its best offensive days of the season, posting a .294 hitting percentage.
Amanda Miller tallied 11 kills on 17 attempts with no errors. She also finished with four aces, as did freshman setter
Phoebe Kane, who finished with a team-high 38 assists.

Anna Marcy tallied a team-high 14 kills, while
Katie Mazierski finished with a double-double, totaling 12 kills and 11 digs.

Elise Kreuz paced the Fisher defense with 15 digs.

Fisher easily handled Utica, recording 30 more kills than the Pioneers over the course of the match.
The Cardinals took the first two sets 25-11 and 25-14, but the third proved challenging. The team was able to secure the match victory with a 27-25 set three score.
Utica came out with an early 2-8 lead over the Cardinals in the final set, eventually tying it up at 16-16, and took its first lead of the set at 20-19. After two lead changes, Fisher found itself down 24-25 but two kills from Marcy and a Utica attack error would ultimately give the Cardinals the win with a final score of 27-25.
Marcy and Mazierski both finished with kill counts in the double digits, at 19, and 12, respectively.
Kreuz also had excellent defensive efforts, finishing with 17 digs.
The Cardinals return to competition at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when they host East Ave. rival Nazareth College.
