The St. John Fisher College field hockey team fell to 6-0 No. 11 Skidmore College at Growney Stadium Thursday afternoon. With the loss, Fisher moves to 0-1 on the year while the Thoroughbreds improve to 1-0.
In the season opener, the Cardinals found themselves down early, taking a 4-0 deficit into half. Fisher put forth more pressure in the second period, but were unable to put behind the Skidmore goaltender.
Emily Markarian led the attack for the Cardinals on the day, putting three shots on goal and sending one that went just wide of the post.
In goal for Fisher was
Amanda Maciol who stopped seven shots, eclipsing her career-high from last season.
Fisher will return to the field at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as the team will travel to the College at Brockport to take on the Golden Eagles.
