The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team fell to 1-1 in the Empire 8 Conference and 4-5 overall, as the Cardinals suffered a 22-4 loss to host Nazareth College on Saturday. The Nazareth win avenges Fisher's 9-8 victory back in 2014, the last time two teams met at Golden Flyers Stadium.
With the win, Nazareth, who outscored Fisher 14-0 in the second half, improves to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the Empire 8.
Fisher took the early 1-0 lead on a man-up goal less than three minutes into the game with
Dante Giordano scoring off a pass from
Andrew Rosso.
Nazareth would respond with five straight goals, but Fisher answered late in the first quarter Giordano assisting on a
Gary Bova goal with 26 left in the opening quarter.
Trailing 6-2 in the opening moments of the second quarter,
Drew Brown would score off a pass from Bova to make it a three-goal game.
Rosso would score midway through the second quarter to keep Fisher well within striking distance at 7-4 with 7:20 left in the first half.

Zach Knight and
Justin Townsend combined to make 18 saves.
Ricky Barton tallied a team-high five ground balls, while
Nick Papayanakos added three ground balls.
Fisher returns to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and will host Houghton College.
