The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team defeated SUNY Geneseo for the first time in four years in a 7-3 victory on Saturday afternoon at Growney Stadium.
The Cardinals shut out Geneseo in the first half, not even allowing one shot from the Knights in the full 30 minutes.
Fisher would take a six-goal lead in the first half and never look back.
Senior
Chrissy Cook sent one to the back of the net with just two minutes gone, while
Morgan Young would score just two minutes later on an assist from
Cori Holbrook.
Jordan Johnson would make it a 3-0 game from a free position opportunity with 24 minutes left in the first.
Holbrook would score the next two goals, first in the 23
rd minute and next in the 15
th minutes, as the final goal from the half came from
Carly Sullivan with 12 remaining.
Geneseo would score its lone goal of the game with 24 left in the second half, but Fisher would answer in the final seconds of the game when Holbrook would find the net for the final goal.
Natalie Gates led for Fisher with four caused turnovers.
The Cardinals are back in action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when they travel to take on SUNY Oneonta.
