The St. John Fisher College men's basketball program dropped a 77-66 decision to the University of Rochester on Friday night at Nazareth College in the first game of the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout.
With the loss, Fisher, currently receiving votes in the D3hoops.com national poll, falls to 3-2 overall, while Rochester, ranked 18
th nationally, improves to 7-0 on the season.
Fisher trailed by one at 12-11 six minutes into the game, but the Yellowjackets used a 13-1 run over the next 3:37 to take a 25-12 lead.
The Cardinals trimmed the lead down to five with a minute to go in the first half at 37-32 on a layup from senior
Keegan Ryan.
Rochester led 40-32 at the break and opened the second half with a 15-5 run over the first five minutes to take its biggest lead of the night at 55-37.  The Cardinals responded with a 13-2 run to make it a seven-point game at 57-50 with 10:57 on two free throws from
Alex Skaine.

Fisher, however, would not get any closer, as the Yellowjackets regained and kept a double-digit lead for the remainder of the night.
For Fisher,
Tyler English led his team with 16 points, while Ryan added 12 points and a team-high eight boards, including seven in the first half.

Freshman
Dennis Hare scored a career-high 12 points, while
Tyler Farrell paced the Cardinals with four assists.

Jordan Gilman tallied five points and three assists, while
Jake Hicks chipped in with six points in his first action of the season.
Fisher returns to action at 6 p.m. on Saturday and will face Rochester Institute of Technology in its final game of the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout.
