The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team fell 71-59 to the William Smith College Herons Tuesday evening in Geneva. With the loss, Fisher moves to 2-3 on the season while the Herons improve to 3-2.
It was a close battle throughout the first two quarters as the teams exchanged blows. The first stanza ended in a 19-19 tie, while the two programs came into the half in a stalemate as each squad had 29. William Smith used a 13-3 run to take advantage of the Cardinals in the third and Fisher was unable to surmount a comeback.
Caroline Robertson collected 13 points on the night to lead all Cardinals.
Nicole Robinson (10) and
Emily Piacentini (10) also hit the double-digit point mark.
On the glass, Robinson and
Jessica Rhone each hauled in six boards while Robertson nabbed five.
At the point,
Erin Hulbert played well, tallying nine points, five steals and four dimes..
Fisher returns to action at 8 p.m. on Friday and will host the University of Rochester in the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout.
