Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Pushes Record to 3-0

The St. John Fisher College men's basketball program improved to 3-0 for the second straight year, as the Cardinals earned an 80-75 win over visiting SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday.
With the game tied at 7s just over three minutes into the game, Fisher used a 20-5 run over the next six minutes to take the lead for good.

Oneonta (1-2) cut the margin down to single digits at 31-23 with 4:53 left, but Fisher used a 10-0 run to take its largest lead of the game at 41-23 and lead 42-27 at the break, as the Cardinals shot 57.1% from the floor over the first 20 minutes.

The Red Dragons made three 3-pointers in the opening moments of the second half, trimming the Fisher-lead down to five at 42-37 with 13:52 remaining.   Fisher pushed it back to a double-digit lead and led 64-54 with 6:06, but Oneonta hung tough and went on an 8-0 spurt over the next 97 seconds to make it a two-point game.

Fisher led by two points at 73-71 with less than a minute to go, but the Cardinals would capitalize at the charity stripe, making six straight attempts in the closing moments and thundering dunk from Jake Haight with just over 10 seconds left sealed the win.

For Fisher, Keegan Ryan recorded his 32nd career double-double, tallying 19 points and 13 rebounds.   Tyler English scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half, while Haight added 14 points and eight boards.

Alex Sausville chipped in with 10 points.

Fisher will return to action at 3 p.m. on Sunday at The College of Wooster.   The Fighting Scots are currently ranked No. 7 in the national coaches poll.
