The St. John Fisher men's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup under the lights.
With the loss, Fisher falls to 5-8-2 overall, while Geneseo improves to 9-7-2 on the season.
Both teams battled hard in the first half, but neither would find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes. Geneseo scored just seven minutes into the second on a penalty kick. Goalkeeper
Joe Catalfamo made an impressive save attempt, getting a piece of the ball but not enough to record the save.
The Cardinals turned an impressive defensive performance, as Geneseo outshot Fisher 20-4. Catalfamo registered four saves before he was replaced by
Szymon Labecki who played for the remainder of the second half, recording three saves.
Fisher returns to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday in their final home match of the season against Empire 8 rival Ithaca College, in a game dedicated to the seniors of the program.
