The St. John Fisher College Field Hockey team took down Houghton College 5-1, clinching first place in the Empire 8 with their record-breaking 13
th win in a row on Saturday afternoon in a game dedicated to the seniors of the field hockey program.

Fisher will host the Empire 8 tournament November 4
th and 5
th, and with the win it improves its record to 14-2 overall, yet another record for most wins in a season.

Fisher's offense gained momentum quickly, as
Lexi Foley found the back of the cage on an assist from Morgan in just the ninth minute. Just four minutes later, freshman
Kelly Bergamo scored on a pass from Morgan.

The Highlanders would score just once in the 26
th minute, but Fisher would not score for the remainder of the half.

To start the second half
Emily Markarian made the score 3-1 on an unassisted goal, and
Michaela Altobelli would tack another point on with an unassisted goal just three minutes after Markarian's.
The Cardinal's fifth and final goal was scored by Keely Samsonik assisted by Markarian in the 66
th minute of play.

Fisher's excellent defense kept Houghton's shot count to just five, as goalkeeper
Ashley Maynard recorded two saves.

The Cardinals return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when they travel to take on Oswego State in a non-conference matchup.
