Fredonia women's lacrosse team led 9-8 with 20 minutes left in the second half, then tallied eight unanswered goals to solidify an 17-10 victory over the nationally-ranked Cardinals on Tuesday.

With the loss, Fisher falls to 5-2 on the season while Fredonia improves to 6-1.

The Blue Devils opened the game with four unanswered goals in under five minutes. Fisher trailed by just one halfway through the first half with help from
Jordan Johnson, who recorded back-to-back goals, followed by a goal from
Samantha Barton to draw within one at 4-3.

Fredonia went on another spree, tallying three unanswered goals, to take a 6-3 lead with five minutes left in the half.

At halftime, Fisher trailed 8-4.

Four Cardinals –
Sierra Badger,
Lindsey Shoales, Barton and Johnson – recorded a goal apiece to help Fisher pull within one, 9-8.

Fredonia, however, scored eight unanswered goals to solidify its win.

Cori Holbrook recorded her first career goal to wrap up the scoring. Johnson finished with a team-leading four goals, while Barton added three.

Nicole Hart recorded the loss in net with three saves.

Fisher returns to action at 4 p.m. Friday against host Alfred University.
