Baseball Sweeps Nationally-Ranked Case Western Reserve

The St. John Fisher College baseball team completed a sweep of nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University Saturday with a 5-4 win in game one before handing the Spartans a 13-5 defeat in game two.

Fisher moves to 6-8 on the season, while Case falls to 4-6 overall.

Game 1 – Fisher 5, Case 4

With the score tied at four, Mike Roman delivered an RBI double in the top of the ninth inning to score Calvin Woolhiser for what proved to be the game-winning run.

The duo of Woolhiser and Roman produced RBI singles in the opening inning to put Fisher on top 2-0.

Fisher picked up one run at the bat of Victor Konstantinovsky in the third, but the Spartans scored the next four runs of the game to jump ahead.

The Cardinals tied the score in the sixth on a Woolhiser single. 

Fisher racked up 13 hits in the game, four of which came from Scott Eisenmenger.  Roman and Woolhiser each notched two hits in the game.

Kevin Berge earned the win, while Loukas Brigham earned his first career save.
Game 2 – Fisher 13, Case 5

Fisher broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the seventh after erupting for six runs to blow the game open. Shane Barley and Woolhiser each came up with singles in the inning producing two RBI apiece.   Cody Wiktorski knocked around Joe Simmons for the final run of the inning.

Ryan Felske picked up the win on the hill for Fisher.

The Cardinals mustered 13 hits, four at the hands of Malcolm Kelsey and three apiece from Simmons and Woolhiser.

Fisher is back in action at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when it will host the College at Brockport.
