The St. John Fisher College volleyball team lost its first match at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Invitational on Friday when the Cardinals fell 3-0 to host SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
With the loss, Fisher is now 8-8 on the season while the host Wildcats improve to 14-2 in their 2015 campaign following the win.
The Cardinals were unable to find their footing in the first two sets as they recorded only 15 kills and committed 18 errors in total. Fisher ultimately fell 25-18 in the first set before losing 25-16 in the second set.
The third set was more of a balanced battle as the Cardinals and the Wildcats each recorded 11 kills in the set. In the end, Fisher was unable to overcome SUNY Polytechnic as the Cardinals fell in a tight, 25-23 third set.
Amanda Miller led the way for Fisher as the sophomore finished with eight kills and three service aces in the match.
Anna Marcy tallied a team-high nine kills in the match while
Katie Mazierski finished with a team-leading 12 digs.
Danielle Reid and
Jessica Simonetti each posted personal bests for the Cardinals in the match after Reid finished with a team-high 11 assists while Simonetti totaled 4 service aces.
Fisher will participate in two more games at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Invitational on Saturday as it faces Skidmore College at 11 a.m. and Plattsburgh State later in the day at 1 p.m.
