Men's Soccer | 10/3/2015 5:29:00 PM

The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team fell 1-0 to host Houghton College on Saturday after allowing a penalty kick goal towards the end of the second overtime period.
With the loss, Fisher falls to 0-10 overall and 0-3 in Empire 8 action. Houghton improves to 5-3-2, 2-0-1 following the win.

The Cardinals and the Highlanders played 90 minutes of scoreless soccer as Houghton out-shot Fisher 12-3 throughout regulation. Goalie Joseph Catalfamo turned in a strong second half performance for the Cardinals, making three saves in the period to help push the game to extra time.

Niether team was able to score in the first overtime and the game seemed destined for a draw after it remained scoreless through nine minutes of the second overtime.

Despite that, with just 48 seconds left in the game, Houghton was awarded a penalty kick. Jesse Toth converted on the kick and the Highlanders went on to win the game 1-0.

Catalfamo faced 17 shots and made four total saves in the contest.

Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday as it hosts Alfred State for a non-conference matchup.
