The St. John Fisher College field hockey team came away with a 4-0 win over host Elmira College on Saturday in Empire 8 Conference action.
The win marks Fisher's fourth-straight victory as it is now 10-3 overall and 6-0 in Empire 8 action. It is the third straight season Fisher has reached double digits in the win column. Â
The Cardinals first got on the board in the 15
th minute of the first half as
Emily Markarian scored on a feed from
Elizabeth Cusack to put Fisher up 1-0. That one-goal advantage would hold until halftime.
Markarian wasn't finished as the sophomore picked up her second goal of the game early in the second half as she gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the 45
th minute. On the season, Markarian now has a team-leading 11 goals.
Fisher would pick up two more goals in the contest as
Hannah Cooper scored in the 50
th minute before Cusack found the back of the net in the 67
th minute, ultimately giving the Cardinals the 4-0 win.
Cusack finished the game with one goal and two assists as
Lauren Fazio,
Nickole Morgan, and
Jill Alaimo each tallied an assist.
Danielle Famolaro started in net for Fisher and made four saves. The senior posted her fourth-straight shutout and seventh shutout on the season.
The Cardinals return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday as they take on East Avenue rival Nazareth College at Growney Stadium in Empire 8 play. The Cardinals call clinch the No. 1 seed for the Empire 8 Championship with a victory.
