The St. John Fisher College field hockey team defeated Empire 8 opponent Hartwick College 2-0 on Saturday in Oneonta.
With the win, the Cardinals remain in first place in the Empire 8 as they improve to 8-3 overall and 5-0 in conference action.
Fisher got on the board in the 26
th minute when
Emily Markarian dribbled past three defenders before finding the back of the net, putting the Cardinals up 1-0. The goal served as Markarian's team-leading ninth score of the season.
The one-goal Fisher advantage would hold until late in the second half when
Lauren Fazio extended the Cardinals' lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal in the 68
th minute.
Danielle Famolaro started in net for Fisher and posted her fourth shutout of the season after making three saves against the Hawks.
Fisher returns to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as it travels to take on host Keuka College.
