Basketball Teams Travel To Nazareth Tonight

The St. John Fisher College basketball teams will travel up East Avenue tonight to take on host Nazareth College in the first go around of the Battle of the Beaks.  The matchup helps support the Golisano Children's Hospital, most notably children born prematurely.

The women will square off at 6 p.m in a pivotal Empire 8 showdown.  Fisher (13-4, 6-2) is riding a four-game winning streak, including knocking off previously-unbeaten Ithaca College 54-59 last Saturday.  Nazareth (9-6, 4-2) has had a 10-day layoff with its last game being January 20, a 62-41 win over Elmira.

The men's teams will tip at 8 p.m.  Fisher (15-2, 8-0) is currently on a 13-game win streak, with its last loss coming December 5 against SUNY Geneseo.  Fisher has been doing the job at both ends of the court which has led the Cardinals to being ranked third in the country in average scoring margin at 17.2 points per game.  The Cardinals dropped second place Ithaca College 96-70 last Saturday.  Nazareth (6-9, 2-4) has won it last two conference games, most recently defeating Elmira 77-69 on January 20.  Junior Maurice Mills leads the Empire 8 in points per game with 19.5.

Both the Fisher women and men boast the top scoring offenses in the conference with the women putting up 72.7 points per game and the men at 77.9 ppg.
