The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College football team (1-0) will travel to The College at Brockport (2-0) to square off against the Golden Eagles in Courage Bowl X with kickoff time set for 6 p.m. The annual game is dedicated to the children of Camp Good Days and Special Times.
The inaugural Courage Bowl came in 2005 at Growney Stadium against the University of Rochester. Fisher has won each of the previous nine Courage Bowl matchups with the first eight wins coming against the University of Rochester, before the Cardinals defeated Alfred University last season.
In addition to this being the first-ever Courage Bowl matchup between Fisher and Brockport, this game also marks the first Empire 8 meeting between the schools as the Golden Eagles joined as an affiliate member in 2014.
Fisher is coming off its bye week after throttling Otterbein University in its home-opener 36-14. Senior linebacker
Mike Donitzen recorded the first safety for Fisher since 2007 in the third quarter breaking a 14-14 tie, propelling Fisher to score 22 unanswered points to earn the win.
The host Golden Eagles are coming off a 17-14 win over longtime rival SUNY Cortland on Saturday. Brockport broke at 14-14 tie with 2:02 remaining in the game as sophomore kicker Tyler Perna split the uprights to seal the win.
