The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team scored the game's first 11 goals, coasting to a 14-1 victory over DeSales University in Tampa, Florida at Skyline Field on Thursday.
It was a lopsided game from the start as the Cardinals finished the game outshooting the Bulldogs 31-10.Â
With the win Fisher improves to 2-0 on the season while DeSales falls to 0-3.
Fisher did most of its damage in the first quarter, netting six goals to take command beginning with Taylor Muztagago taking a feed from
Kevin Bronson seven minutes in.Â
Brett Farrell scored all of his game-high three goals in the first stanza for the Cardinals.
After a hot start in the first quarter, Fisher tallied two more goals in the second to take an 8-0 lead into the break, including an unassisted goal from
Greg Ramsden.Â
That lead would blossom to 11-0 after three quarters before DeSales finally found the back of the net at the 12:22 mark of the fourth quarter for its only goal of the game.
The Cardinals saw two freshman record their first collegiate goals in the win as
Tim Wagner and
Matt Colicchia each ended the day with two goals apiece.
Senior
Jeff Wester chipped in two goals and two assists for the Cardinals, while
Drew Brown,
Mike DeMar and
Joe Masterpol each contributed a goal.
Fisher will head back north for its next contest, a 4 p.m. matchup at The College of Brockport on Tuesday.
