In a battle of two undefeated teams, it was the 13
th-ranked visiting Cardinals who came out on top 11-6 over the 15
th-ranked SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons on Friday.
With the win Fisher improves to 4-0 overall, while the Red Dragons fall to 5-1.
Fisher never trailed in the contest, scoring the games first three goals.Â
Lindsey Shoales netted her third goal of the year off an assist from
Jordan Johnson.Â
Samantha Barton and
Sierra Badger added unassisted goals to put Fisher up 3-0 to open up the game.
The Fisher defense made it difficult for Oneonta all day not allowing goal until the midway point of the first.Â
Jill Zerrillo and
Taylor Hughes scored goals less than one minute apart to give the Cardinals a 5-1 advantage at the 20 minute mark. It was 5-2 Cardinals at the break.
In the second half Fisher built up its lead to 8-3 at the midway point. Johnson scored her second goal of the game to make it 7-3, following it up with an assist shortly after to Shoales.Â
The Cardinals would put the game out of reach building a six goal cushion, 10-4, with less than five minutes to play capped off by Shoales scoring her fourth goal of the game assisted by
Erin Ward. Oneonta added three goals to close out the game but it was too little too late.
Johnson ended the day with two goals and two assists while Ward and Hughes each finished with two points apiece.
Caroline Trpcevski stopped five shots in net to earn the win.
Fisher is back in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts Buffalo State College.
