Fisher Football Game Notes vs Alfred University

The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College (7-2, 5-2) football team will travel to Alfred University (5-4, 3-4) for its regular season finale with kickoff set for 1 p.m.

No. 24 Fisher will look to bounce back from a 19-8 loss last weekend to Ithaca College, which guaranteed the Bombers the automatic berth to the NCAA Championship and a least a share of the Empire 8 regular season title.  With a win over the Saxons, Fisher and Ithaca would be Co-Champions of the Empire 8.  Fisher would boast an identical 8-2 to both the 2011 and 2013 seasons when the Cardinals received an at-large bid into the NCAA Championships, marching to the quarterfinals each time.

Fisher will await word as to whether or not they will receive one of six at-large bids into the NCAA Championships, with the selection show taking place at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Alfred is coming off a loss as well, 35-14 last weekend at Utica College.

Historically Fisher has struggled to win a road game at Alfred as the Cardinals have fallen the last three times in 2008, 2010, and 2012.  The Cardinals last win against the Saxons on the road was in 2006, a 41-13 victory.
