The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team fell 4-1 to host Houghton College in its regular-season finale on Saturday.
Despite the loss, thanks to Stevens' 1-0 win over Hartwick, the Cardinals earned a spot in the Empire 8 Championship postseason. Â
Jackie Romano put the Cardinals on the board in the 36th minute with an assist from
Carly Finn. Fisher's lead wouldn't last for long, as Houghton found the back of the net just eight minutes later. The score would remain 1-1 heading into halftime.
Three different Highlanders score one goal apiece in the second half to defeat Fisher 4-1. Stephany Ellison's goal in the 47th minute would prove to be the eventual game-winner.
Goalkeeper
Brooke Seavitt made five saves in 90 minutes between the posts.
The Cardinals complete the regular season with a 4-4-0 record in conference play and 6-11-1 overall. No. 4 seed Fisher visits No. 1 seed Ithaca College at 11 a.m. Friday.
