The St. John Fisher College field hockey team dominated host SUNY Geneseo, but could only find the back of the cage on one occasion, as the Cardinals dropped a 2-1 decision to the Knights on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Fisher held a 2:1 ratio in shots, tallying 18 to Geneseo's 9, and finished the day with 14 penalty corners (Geneseo had 4).
The Knights took the lead for good late in the first half and added another goal early in the second period.
Fisher's lone goal came from senior
Marissa Vedella, who banged home a rebound from six yards out.
Goalie
Danielle Famolaro tallied two saves for the Cardinals (11-6).
Fisher returns to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Utica College. Both Fisher and Utica are 7-0 in the Empire 8 Conference and the winner of Saturday's game will host the following weekend's Empire 8 Championship.
