The St. John Fisher College field hockey team set a new College record for wins in a season on Saturday, as the Cardinals picked up their 11^th victory of the year in a 2-1 win at Washington & Jefferson College.

With the win, Fisher improves to 11-5 overall and 7-0 in the Empire 8 Conference.

The Cardinals, competing in just their fourth season as an NCAA Division III program, have secured at least the No. 2 seed in the Empire 8 Conference Championship. They will play at Utica College (14-1, 7-0) next Saturday with the victor winning the Empire 8 regulars-season title and earning the rite to host the Empire 8 Championship.

The winner of the Empire 8 Championship will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Fisher took the lead for good early in as Elizabeth Cusack scored her 14^th goal of the season off a pass from Stacie Skidmore in the game's fourth minute.
Skidmore picked her second assist of the day nearly 15 minutes later. Emily Markarian finished the 2-on-1 break with a shot into the far corner for her team-leading 16^th goal of the year to put her team up, 2-0.

The Presidents got on the board with just over 11 minutes left in the regulation, but goalie Danielle Famolaro, who finished with two saves, kept W&J at bay for the remainder of the game.

Fisher finished the game with a 14-5 advantage in shots and held an 8-4 edge in penalty corners.

The Cardinals return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at SUNY Geneseo.
