Women's Soccer Picks Up E8 Victory

The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team improved to 6-9 overall and 4-2 in the Empire 8 Conference, as the Cardinals earned a 2-0 win over visiting Elmira College for its Annual Pancreatic Cancer Game on a rainy Tuesday night.

Freshman Jackie Romano provided the game-winning goal in the sixth minute, bending a shot from the right end-line over the goalie's head and into the upper left corner.

Carly Finn closed out the scoring when she found the back of the net after slipping behind the defense from a Taryn Guinta pass in the 72nd minute.

Brooke Seavitt had five saves in goal.

Fisher will return to action on Saturday at Stevens Institute of Technology in a pivotal Empire 8 Conference matchup. Both Stevens and Fisher are tied for third place at 4-2 in the Empire 8 standings. The top-four teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the postseason tournament.
