The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team fell to visiting Ithaca College 2-0 on Saturday afternoon as the Cardinals honored their graduating seniors. With the loss, the Cardinals snap their three-game winning streak. Fisher is now 5-9 overall and 3-2 in Empire 8 play, while the Bombers improve to 11-2 and 6-1, respectively, to remain at the top of the conference.
The first half remained scoreless with Ithaca outshooting Fisher 7-1. Each team had its chance at scoring with two shots hitting the crossbar. Ithaca had its opportunity with 22 minutes remaining, while
Jackie Romano nearly put fisher on the board with four minutes left.
Megan Nash gave Ithaca its first goal in the 55th minute on an unassisted goal. She notched her second unassisted score in the 71st minute when the ball slipped past goalkeeper
Brooke Seavitt.
The Cardinals fought through the 90th minute with
Carly Finn and
Molly Beaton both taking shots that ended just left of the goal.
Seavitt tallied three saves on the day.
Fisher returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday against visiting Elmira College in another conference contest.
