Baseball Rally Comes Up Just Short

With the loss, Fisher falls to 22-13, while Brockport improves to 20-15.

Brockport scored one run in the top of the fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth innings to take a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the eighth.

Fisher, who totaled six of its 10 hits on the day in the final two innings, made it 4-1 on an RBI-double to left by shortstop Chris Roeder, scoring Mike Roman, but the inning ended with the tying run at the plate striking out.

In the ninth, Brad Rush doubled to started the inning, but after the next two batters made outs, Fisher made its charge.  Ben Webb was hit by a pitch, and lifted for pinch-runner Bryant Moore.  Roman then singled to right, scoring Rush.   Ben Bostick then singled up the middle to score Moore, making it 4-3.

With runners on first and second, Roeder hit a high chopper to second base and beat the throw to first, but the game ended with Roman being thrown out at the plate, attempting to score the game-tying run on the play.

Roman and Rush both picked three hits on the day and scored a run.  Bostick and Roeder each added two hits and an RBI.

Junior All-American Justin D'Amato was tagged the loss, dropping his record to 5-2 on the year.  After going 20 consecutive starts without loss, D'Amato, Fisher's all-time leader in wins and strikeouts, has lost two straight.
