The St. John Fisher College softball program returned to its winning ways on Monday, taking both games of its doubleheader at Keuka College. With the two wins, Fisher improves to 19-11 and 15-5 since its trip to Georgia last month. The Cardinals will return to action at 3 p.m. on Tuesday and will host SUNY Cortland in a pivotal non-conference matchup.
Game One – Fisher 6, Keuka 1
Sophomore
Lauren Wesolowski improved to 5-0 on the year, pitching seven solid innings and allowing just two hits.
Freshman
Jessie Smyrski went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI to lead the Cardinals. Senior
Sarah Fordyce hit her team-leading eighth home run of the year and third in as many days.
Kayla Goodberlet picked up two hits, while
Kate Disbrow scored two runs.
Game Two - Fisher 11, Keuka 0 (five innings)
Senior pitcher
Sarah Stefanon won her ninth game of the season and came one out away from recording a perfect game. She allowed a two-out single up the middle and finished the game with 10 strikeouts.
Goodberlet led the offensive attack, racking up three hits, three runs and three RBI. Fordyce added three hits as well, while
Leanne Merchant chipped in with a two-run single. Disbrow was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI as well.
Meghan Burns and
Olivia Fusilli both scored a run in each game.
