The St. John Fisher College softball program lost both games of its doubleheader at Utica College on Sunday. With the two losses, Fisher falls to 17-11 overall and 4-4 in the Empire 8 Conference. Fisher returns to action at 3 p.m. on Monday at Keuka College.
Game 1 – Utica 6, Fisher 2
Fisher led 2-1 going into the bottom of the seventh, but the Pioneers tied the game up and ended the contest with a walk-off grand slam. With the game tied at 1-1,
Kayla Goodberlet,
Leanne Merchant and
Sarah Fordyce strung together three consecutive singles to give Fisher the lead. Merchant, Fordyce and
Kate Disbrow each finished with two hits in the loss.
Sarah Stefanon was the pitcher of record, dropping to 8-4 on the year.
Game 2 – Utica 8, Fisher 2
Fisher trailed 2-0 in the third inning, but Fordyce hit her second home run in as many days, scoring Goodberlet and tying the game at 2s.
