Growney Stadium will be one of three sites for some exciting high school and college lacrosse action this weekend as part of the Flower City Cup Coaches vs. Cancer Lacrosse Showcase, sponsored by Canandaigua National Bank and Trust. The Cardinals' men's and women's lacrosse teams will be in action on Friday, March 15 and Sunday, March 17. The goal of the event is to raise money for cancer research/support and raise awareness within the lacrosse community.
The Fisher men's team (4-1) hosts Endicott College at 2 p.m. on Friday, while the 14th-ranked women's team (3-1) hosts SUNY Fredonia at 5 p.m. in a rematch of last year's NCAA Division III Championship opening-round game.
On Sunday, the men's team hosts Roger Williams at 12 p.m., while the women's team plays Western New England University at 3 p.m.
On Saturday, Fisher will one of three locations where local high schools will scrimmage one another in preparation for the upcoming season.
Admission for the event are available at the gate of each venue for $5 which will cover the entire weekend. There will also be commemorative programs, T-shirts and wrist bands will be availabe with the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
Rochester Institute of Technology and Nazareth Colleges will host games this weekend as well.
The No. 5 RIT (2-1) men's lacrosse team will host No. 14 Western New England University (WNEU) on Friday, March 15 at 2 p.m., while the RIT (3-1) women will host WNEU at 5 p.m. at RIT's Turf Field. The men will host Endicott College on Sunday, March 17 at 12 p.m., followed by the women's team versus Endicott at 3 p.m.
Nazareth hosts Roger Williams on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m., followed the women's team versus Endicott at 5 p.m. Sunday, the men will host Western New England at 12 p.m.
